Do graduates today understand basic quantitative information?

The 2008 WSU Provost's Speaker Series on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning presents a two-day program April 10-11 to help faculty address that issue.  The Teaching Academy arranges the series.

Through a keynote address and three workshops on QR, educators willl learn ways of integrating QR across the undergraduate curriculum. There is no charge for any of the events.

Keynote presenter is Caren L. Diefenderfer.  Joining her to lead faculty and graduate student workshops will be Ruth A. Doan. Both are professors at Hollins University and have extensive experience in QR and curricula.

  • involves students’ abilities to think critically and apply an understanding of mathematical principles to situations and problems of all types
  • applicable to curricula in all fields/majors
  • one of the Six Learning Goals of the Baccalaureate at WSU
